And yes, the stillness is terrifying when you first turn to face it (or even just sense it sitting there out of the corner of your eye). It feels like a vortex ready to suck you in to your doom! It totally isn't a scary doom vortex, but that doesn't help you get to where you can say that. My personal tuppence on the issue - take it slow and indirect, but keep going. Find the pace that's right for you and your situation and it'll happen a lot quicker than you think. As for where the fear comes from. I say it comes from a place of safety. It's just misguided in how to keep you safe. @Joely – np :)

If I get un-busy and allow my mind to be still, I have to face that huge empty space inside that terrifies me so much. I can't figure out where the fear is coming from, but it's there. I also have a lot of fear about what would happen if I stopped going the "safe route," with the Standard Office Job and all.
